4 Types of Composite Decking You Can Install On Your Home

Composite Decking is an alternative to wood that’s made primarily from recycled materials. It’s durable, easy to clean, and requires little maintenance. In addition, unlike pressure treated lumber, composite materials stand up to our Western North Carolina weather by withstanding mold, and staying splinter-free. If you’re environmentally conscious, you’ll love that these options are made with sustainable and recycled materials, also reducing your carbon footprint.

At The YardFathers, composite decking options are ALL we install. Why not wooden decks? Because we only install systems we can guarantee.

Trex® Composite Decking

If you’ve researched composite decking, chances are you’ve seen or heard of TREX®. They’ve been doing this a long time (since 1996), have a vast variety of products, and back their options with a 25-year limited residential Fade and Stain Warranty. Their composite systems are proudly made in the USA, and are made 95% of post-consumer plastic film and reclaimed sawdust.

TimberTech® Composite Decking

TimberTech® prides itself on being the most realistic composite decking option. Their tagline “Better Tech, Better Deck™” speaks to that. They desire to give their customer the look and feel of real wood, at an unparalleled and long-lasting value. In fact, TimberTech® ranked #1 in quality AND in railing for composite decking studies completed in 2019.

Fiberon® Composite Decking

Did you know there’s a composite decking option manufactured right here in North Carolina? With current supply chain issues, being close the distributor can make all the difference in the world in completing your project in a timely fashion. But for many reasons, we really like this PVC composite decking option. That’s right, PVC decking: it’s 100% made from recycled plastics, instead of other composite decking systems, made from a plastic/wood blend.

BamDeck® by Cali Bamboo®

Just like the name states, this option is comprised of 60% recycled bamboo fibers and 40% recycled HDPE plastic. Bamboo—unlike generic wood chips and sawdust—is known for its uncompromised durability, giving BamDeck® industry-leading strength and density. In addition, BamDeck® features a fully wrapped cap (all four sides are coated, vs 3 sides like with some other manufacturers), and CoreMax technology™ that provide a more flexible system, with up to 20% less weight. In addition, the BamDeck prides itself on less plastic than other composites, supposedly keeping the deck boards cooler on hot, summer days.
